Clear Channel removes 'ecstasy' sign

The owner of a North Side Chicago billboard has responded to protests by removing an advertisement for the musical "Xanadu" that likened watching the performance to taking ecstasy.

Clear Channel Outdoor took the advertisement down Friday from a billboard across from an elementary school. City officials had received complaints from neighborhood members and Nettelhorst Elementary School principal Cindy Wulbert.

Wulbert says she doesn't think it's appropriate for an advertisement across from a school to possibly put a drug in a positive light.

The "Xanadu" presenter, Broadway in Chicago, says the ecstasy comment is a quote from Vanity Fair magazine. The company says it didn't intentionally place the advertisement across from a school.
