Pavelec, Wolves shut out Chops

Chicago Wolves goaltender Ondrej Pavelec turned away 27 shots to collect his third shutout of the season with a 4-0 win over the Iowa Chops at Wells Fargo Arena Friday night.

Pavelec (14-12-1), who was named the AHL's Player of the Week on Monday, has allowed just 5 goals in the last five games and has held opponents to 1 or fewer goals in nine of his 27 matchups this year.

Left wing Mike Hamilton paced the Wolves with 2 goals, and right wings Spencer Machacek and Jeff Hamilton netted a goal apiece for the Wolves, who played the game on pink ice as part of the Chops' "Pink in the Rink" event.

Iowa (25-23-3-8) hosted a franchise record crowd of 10,475.

The Wolves will play their next game at the Allstate Arena against the Quad City Flames on Sunday, March 1, at 3 p.m.
