No bond for man charged in Chicago triple murder
The man charged in the fatal shootings of three Chicago teenagers has been ordered held without bond after prosecutors said he allegedly fired an assault rifle at a rival gang member but missed.
Judge Maura Slattery Boyle denied bond Friday for 20-year-old Martin Ybarra (ee-BAHR'-ah), who's charged with three counts of first-degree murder.
Prosecutors' documents say Ybarra allegedly shot 15-year-old Raheem Washington instead of the rival. They say Ybarra got into a car and allegedly sprayed more bullets, hitting 13-year-old Johnny Edwards and 17-year-old Kendrick Pitts.
Assistant Public Defender Susan R. Smith says the only witnesses to identify Ybarra as the shooter are rival gang members.
Ybarra previously was acquitted in the 2005 fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man.
