2 custody battles stem from murders
Last month's fatal shootings of New York Knicks player Eddy Curry's former girlfriend and her 10-month-old daughter have engendered two separate child custody cases in Cook County Circuit Court.
Attorney Fredrick Goings appeared Friday to fight his former wife's attempt to gain custody of their daughter, 5-year-old Destyne.
The 36-year-old Goings is charged with first-degree murder in the Jan. 24 slayings of 24-year-old Nova Henry and her 10-month-old daughter, Ava. His former wife, California college student Susanna Cornish, came to Chicago to challenge his sole custody of Destyne, but Goings contended Cornish has only visited the child for 20 hours since her birth.
In the second case, Curry's mother appeared in court to ask for custody of her son's son by the dead woman, 3-year-old Noah Henry.
