Bulls in awe at the White House
The Bulls may have lost some incentive to win an NBA championship. That's usually the only way a team gets invited to tour the White House and meet the president.
In town to face the Washington Wizards tonight, the Bulls took a short cut. They were given a tour of the White House on Thursday, then presented President Barack Obama, a longtime Chicago resident, with a No. 44 jersey during a meeting in the Blue Room.
"He knew just about everyone on our team and you could tell he's a real Bulls fan," guard Derrick Rose told bulls.com. "It was crazy just being here. ... I was nervous just to stand next to him, but then for someone like him to even know my name was just amazing."
All of the Bulls players, coaches and some front office staff, including general manager John Paxson, made the trip. Patriotic center Brad Miller was shown in photos wearing a red dress shirt under his jacket with a blue tie.
According to the Washington Times, the Wizards have been alerted to prepare for intense security at tonight's game, a signal that Obama may choose to attend.
