Baczek off base on reissuing bonds

This is in response to Bill Baczek's Fence Post letter published Feb. 21. Baczek's statement that we are strapping a $1.5 million bond on the back of Round Lake Park residents is nothing more than a sales pitch is not quite accurate.

If Baczek would attend a meeting (he has attended one meeting in the last two and a half years) or since he is too busy running his business and only reads the minutes on line that he says in his opinion are made up (by law you cannot make up minutes) he just might know that we are not automatically reissuing a bond.

We only voted to have a referendum question put on the ballot to let the residents in our village decide if we should renew the bond once the current bond is retired. He also fails to point out that, if the residents decide to vote in favor of the new bond that their tax rate will not change and could quite possibly be lower.

Of course $1.5 million is a lot of money to ask for, however, have you actually looked at the development plans that were presented? I guess not, you claim there are none.

Do you know the costs of labor and material? I guess not, as you did not see the estimated cost of the project submitted with the plans.

This is not just a small sidewalk or just a little sewer project. As far as the budget goes, again I would like to know where you got your facts, as the budget has been balanced the last two years.

Mayor McCue worked diligently to keep it balanced and is currently working on the next budget. You can't blame the current board for failed businesses (our village has lost some already) and foreclosures when the entire country is in a financial tailspin.

Failed businesses mean less tax revenue to the village, which in case you don't know, help to pay for the daily operations of our town. I find it ironic that some one such as yourself that has all the answers to right this village only does so when your running for office.

If you cared as much as you claim, and have all the answers, where have you been the last two and a half years?

Also, Bill, most of our residents already work out of town and have quality jobs. Please don't insult our residents!
