Stimulus plan good if done effectively
I hear a lot, recently, about the economic stimulus package being too large.
Our infrastructure is suffering from decades of neglect, as is our power grid and power supply structure. We are potentially facing the beginning of a perfect storm of environmental, economic and political catastrophes.
I believe that the economic stimulus package will only be as good as it is thrifty, that any misspent money will haunt future generations and any wisely spent money will benefit future generations.
If the stimulus is well directed, in a sustainable manner, then we have an opportunity to make a major capital investment, an investment that can act as a springboard into a new, sustainable, economy, one based on solid economic principles, such as energy self sufficiency, environmental balance and employment opportunity.
With the money spent in Washington nowadays on bank bailouts, military adventures and the like, I find it refreshing to see something as sensible as an economic stimulus package and feel that if whatever amount is spent sensibly, it can have benefits for many years to come.
