Des Plaines man accused of trading child porn online
A 28-year-old Des Plaines man is facing felony counts of distribution and possession of child pornography after a six-month investigation by several police departments culminated in felony charges Monday, police said.
Dominick Vincent McGuigan, of the 1300 block of Rand Road, is accused of trading child pornography through an Internet file sharing program and possessing several thousand images of child pornography, Des Plaines police said.
Police executed a search warrant on McGuigan's residence Nov. 19 and took him into custody. Later that day, McGuigan provided a written statement implicating himself in the trading and sharing of child pornography, police said. Several thousand pornographic images were found in McGuigan's computers after a forensic examination of the hard drives, police said.
The Cook County state's attorney's office approved two felony counts against McGuigan - aggravated possession with intent to disseminate child pornography under 13 years old and aggravated possession of child pornography -- police said. McGuigan has a bond hearing Tuesday morning and is due in court at 9 a.m. March 20 in Skokie.
