Cops: Sugar Grove man harassed clerk's office
A former Sugar Grove man was arrested over the weekend on charges he made threatening and flirtatious phone calls to the Kane County Circuit Clerk's Office.
William C. Jessup, 47, remained in the county jail Monday with bail set at $5,000. He is charged with felony telephone harassment.
According to the sheriff's department, Jessup called the circuit clerk's office several times over two weeks and harassed employees, who eventually reported him to police.
"Some of the time, he was flirting with them. He also made a couple of threats," Sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler said, declining to elaborate.
Since 2005, Jessup has been convicted of telephone harassment four times in Kane County, court records show. He was sentenced to 22 months in prison upon his latest conviction last May.
Gengler said Jessup may have called the clerk's office from Logan Correctional Center in Lincoln, Ill., before being taken to an Aurora halfway house, where he was arrested Saturday. He is due in court March 5.
