2 cars on Chicago-bound Amtrak train derail
HAMMOND, Ind. -- Two cars on an Amtrak train headed to Chicago have derailed in northwestern Indiana. No passengers or crew were in the last two cars, so no one was hurt.
Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says the last two cars of the Lake Shore Limited train derailed Tuesday morning in Hammond. Neither the passenger coach nor the baggage car was occupied.
The train carrying 156 passengers plus crew departed from the East Coast. Buses were taking the passengers from Hammond to Chicago.
