Elk Grove names Doll new football coach
Elk Grove finally found the man it wanted to lead its varsity football program.
Brian Doll, who has been New Trier's varsity defensive coordinator and head sophomore coach, has been selected as the Grenadiers' new head coach. Doll replaces Tom Whalen, who was fired in November after four seasons.
"I plan to share the life lessons that I have learned with the students and athletes whom I instruct," said Doll in a District 214 news release. "I am looking forward to joining the staff at Elk Grove High School, a school that demands the best from its students and staff and is enhanced by the very supportive communities it serves."
Doll will also teach physical education at Elk Grove and is currently a physical education instructor at Highcrest Middle School in Wilmette.
Elk Grove was 2-7 last season but has high hopes as Nick Meyer started the entire season as the varsity quarterback and is part of a talented sophomore class.
