Hanover Park police probe infant's death

Police are investigating the death of a 6-month-old baby from Hanover Park.

According to a police statement, officers responded to the 1600 block of Ontarioville Road at 7 a.m. Friday for a report of an unresponsive infant.

The infant, who a Cook County Medical Examiner's Office spokesman identified as Alexis Zavala, was transported to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates. She was pronounced dead at 7:48 a.m., authorities said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
