• Bonnie Tawse, coordinator of environmental programs for Millennium Park, leads a lecture on "Keeping a Garden Journal" from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse, 3501 N. Chicago Botanic Garden

• The Midwest chapter of the American Rhododendron Society meets for presentations on "Soil Amendment" by John Honkisz and "Selecting and Growing Rhododendrons in the Midwest" by John Golab at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. No extra charge. Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake-Cook Road, Glencoe.

• The Central States Dahlia Society meets for Jerry Landerholm's discussion on "Propagating Dahlias" at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 1.
