Need a scourge to renew our values
The stimulus money isn't going to do much of a hoot. A trillion dollars down the drain. The money is wrongly intended to perpetuate an economy that had thrived under past conditions, which no longer exist, which failed, which died of their own excesses. The painful fallout must happen.
Our disgraceful national debt must be paid off with, as Winston Churchill once said, "blood, sweat, and tears." The value of our currency must be restored. Prices, wages, and salaries must come down. Hard times must occur to reinstitute the concepts of thrift, savings, helping one's neighbor, hard work, honesty, etc., and to negate the concept that gambling casinos and other something-for-nothing schemes can generate revenue to help pay for government.
In other words, we need a painful scourging/purging, so to speak, to renew our sense of values. As someone said, "No pain; no gain."
