Sheriff has courage to stand by beliefs

If you pay attention to the current political scene, it is quite obvious that it is somewhat easier to get elected these days if you are a Democrat. That being said, you have to ask yourself why would a very successful and popular sheriff like Mark Curran change his party affiliation? It certainly would have been easier for Mark to main the status quo.

Perhaps after being in office and privy to information that they general public isn't privy to, he has decided that his personal political views and philosophy differ from those of his constituents.

Mark Curran has been an outstanding sheriff who has instituted many changes and improvements to the Lake County sheriff's office. Never once has he said all Democrats are bad people.

Did switching loyalty from John McCain to Barack Obama make Colin Powell a bad person? Does it diminish the job he did serving his country? I think not! It takes a lot of courage to stand alone and buck the establishment. I for one commend Mark for doing what he believes is right. The difference between Democrats and Republicans is or should be simply philosophical. If we could all realize this our entire country would be a better place to live.

I commend Mark Curran for having the courage of his convictions and will continue to support him no matter what his political affiliation is.
