Robins has experience for Elgin council

Mike Robins is running for Elgin City Council for a two-year term in the upcoming primary election. I believe that he has the accountability, research abilities and administrative skills necessary to perform exceedingly well in this position. He has initiated programs throughout his career in the court system by showing true leadership, and he is respected by both the bench and the bar.

Mike made the important and highly unusual decisions not to accept any donations for his campaign and has also pledged to donate his city council salary to charity. In my opinion, this shows impeccable character on his part. He believes city council positions should be voluntary positions.

Mike shows initiative through the local therapy dog program by visiting Sherman Hospital, nursing homes and retirement centers with his four-legged friend, Houston. I have attended all the forums and have been impressed by what he has to say. I believe that he expresses his own views and that he knows the issues of the city very well. Lastly, he does not work off a script. All of these traits and skills are why I'm voting for Mike Robbins Feb. 24.
