Fremd falls short at Maine South

Fremd had the two leading scorers but Maine South nearly had six players in double figures in a 75-70 nonconference boys basketball win Tuesday in Park Ridge.

Dan Bruno (25 points) hit five 3-pointers and Chris Klimek scored 18 for Fremd (9-14) in its fifth loss in six games. Justin Wasik (17 points), P.J. Killean (14), Matt Palucki (14) and Pat Maher led Maine South (15-8).

"We got four stops in a row and got the lead right back," Fremd coach Bob Widlowski said of overcoming a 33-29 halftime deficit. "But we had way too many defensive breakdowns inside and outside."

Zach Monaghan added 10 points and Will Reising 9 points for Fremd.

Streamwood 58, Elk Grove 36: Andy Larson had a game-high 15 points and hit two 3s for Elk Grove (7-18) in the nonconference road loss.

Loyola 62, Hersey 59: The Huskies fell to 10-14 with the nonconference loss in Wilmette.
