Boy fends off would-be abductor in Geneva

Police are searching for an unidentified 20- to 30-year-old white man who attempted to abduct a 9-year-old boy Monday afternoon in the Mill Creek subdivision west of Geneva.

A red-haired man with brown eyes approached the boy around 3 p.m. in the area of Brundige Drive and West Weaver Court and asked if he wanted to go to Bible study with him, the Kane County sheriff's office said. When the boy said no, the man got out of his car and grabbed the boy's bike. The boy grabbed the bike away from the man and rode home.

The man got back in his car - a newer-model dark green Mustang GT with red seats and a decal of a baseball going through the back window - and drove north on Brundige Drive toward Keslinger Road.

Police are asking anyone who has information about the incident or the vehicle to call the Kane County sheriff's office at (630) 232-6840.
