Help rebuild school's history
If one lives long enough, everyone has the opportunity to experience that sense of horror when it is discovered that something that was meant to be saved forever had been either lost or inadvertently discarded.
Such was the discovery while I was doing research this past fall at Lincoln Elementary School in St. Charles. How or when it happened doesn't matter at this point, but it was discovered that all of the pictures and articles related to the first 60-plus years of Lincoln School's existence are gone.
This letter is, therefore, a request to all of you reading this to help recreate this history. If you do not have pictures or copies thereof that you are willing to donate directly to the school, Natalie Gacek of the St. Charles Heritage Center has graciously offered to scan in any pictures you might have to help recreate the history of the school and its attendees, teachers and events.
Natalie can be contacted at: St. Charles Heritage Center, 215 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60174, phone (630) 584-6967, or e-mail info@stcmuseum.org.
Thanks to all who are able to help rebuild the history of this great school.
