Woman killed on Tri-State near Bannockburn

Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said it appears an unidentified woman jumped off the bridge over the Tri-State tollway Sunday afternoon in Bannockburn.

Bannockburn police officials said officers responded to Duffy Bridge in the northern portion of the Bannockburn Forest Preserve at about 4:10 p.m. after the woman reportedly jumped onto the northbound lanes of I-94.

Keller said a rescue squad from the Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Department took the woman to Highland Park Hospital, where she died a short time later.

He would not release the name of the woman until after the investigation is completed.
