Man accused of stabbing woman, girl

Authorities in Chicago say they have charged a man with stabbing his former girlfriend and her daughter at their home on the city's northwest side.

The attack occurred shortly before midnight Saturday in the city's Hermosa neighborhood, and they were reported in critical condition Sunday night at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Police say 47-year-old Derrick Williams was charged Sunday with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of home invasion causing injury. He was scheduled to appear in bond court Monday.
