Rule change limits Republican voice
This is an open letter to Rep. Melissa Bean and all members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
I would like to know if you support the recent change in House rules to rescind Motion to Recommit.
Changing this rule is not in the spirit and not to the letter of President Obama's stated intention to have a more transparent government.
The intent of the rule is to make sure that no one party force through legislation in the dark of night, that the backers of legislation be known so they can defend their positions on pieces of legislation slipped into larger bills.
It is beyond my comprehension that the U.S. media did not report widely on this rule change that would effectively remove a minority party voice in new legislation.
It would benefit you greatly to take the lead in reinstating Motion to Recommit and remove the dark veil of tyranny that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wishes to spread over the new Congress. By doing so, you would be demonstrating the new transparency so needed and highly promoted by our new president.
