Family thanks those who helped Colleen
On Jan. 14 our daughter was involved in a terrible car accident on Randall Road and Heritage Drive in Batavia Township. We would like to thank the following people who came to her aide.
First of all, the Batavia and Aurora fire departments. for getting her out of the vehicle so fast. The Kane County Sheriff for going to every length to contact us. The Batavia paramedics who transferred her to Mercy Hospital and the Air Angels for transporting her to Good Samaritan Hospital. Your expertise, concern and quickness are appreciated beyond measure.
Many thanks to the staff at Mercy Hospital for keeping us informed and caring for her initially. Thank you to the trauma team at Good Samaritan Hospital, especially Dr. Iwanicki, for providing excellent care and prevention of any complications. The nursing and patient care staff at Good Samaritan was excellent. The doctors, nurses and various therapists at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital were so good; our daughter was home in six days rather than three weeks!
Finally and just as important, we would like to thank two more people. To the man she collided with, you are so nice and your concern for her was comforting to us. We are so thankful that you were not hurt. To the lady who climbed in the car and stayed with our daughter while the fire department cut the roof off and pulled her out, you are an angel who also brought us great comfort knowing our daughter was not alone at such a terrifying time. May God bless both of you!
Thank you to all our families and friends, who sent prayers, well wishes, meals and shoulders to cry and lean on.
