Smoke fills Gurnee Mills store

The second floor of the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Gurnee Mills filled with smoke Friday morning when insulation caught fire as construction crews worked. Gurnee and Newport firefighters responded to the scene around 10:15 a.m., Gurnee Fire Battalion Chief Bob Heraver said. By then, workers had put out the small blaze with a fire extinguisher. The store did not have to be evacuated. Heraver estimated $50 in damage.
