Chili cook-off scheduled:

The Association for Individual Development is having a chili cook-off at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Maple Park Pub in Maple Park. The top three winners from each contests (others were held in Burlington and South in January) will face off during AID's 10th annual telethon on Feb. 28 and have the chance to win a $500 cash first prize. Lincoln dinner in Batavia:

Lincoln interpreters Max and Donna Daniels will perform at the annual Lincoln Dinner Theatre event at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Lincoln Inn Banquets, 1345 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. Help with tax preparation:

Waubonsee Community College is offering free income tax assistance from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the college's Aurora campus, 5 E. Galena Blvd. The site will be closed March 25 and 28. Waubonsee students and volunteers will help prepare tax returns and file them electronically. Families can also get help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA). Families with annual incomes of less than $45,000 and individuals with annual incomes of less than $20,000 are eligible for assistance. People seeking tax help should bring a copy of their 2007 tax return, if they have one; W-2 forms and 1099s from all 2008 jobs; Social Security cards for all family members; and a photo ID.
