Charges against 2 Chicago officers dropped
Cook County prosecutors have dropped all charges against two Chicago police officers accused of robbing homes while members of a special operations unit focused on gangs and drugs.
Officers Carl Suchocki (soo-SHAK'-ee) and Tom Sherry were among seven members of the Special Operations Section indicted in 2006.
State's Attorney Anita Alvarez said Wednesday her office agreed to dismiss the charges after consulting with the U.S. attorney's office, which has been investigating with the FBI whether police supervisors covered up the alleged misconduct.
Suchocki, Sherry and two other officers were accused of stealing nearly $5,000 from a man in 2003.
Sherry's attorney says his client hopes to rejoin the police force.
