Northwest suburbs need more bike lanes
I just finished reading Saturday Soapbox "Hurray for Hoffman Estates' bike plan and I was wondering ... why aren't all the mayors in the Northwest suburbs considering bike routes and bike lanes?
My husband and I are avid bike riders along with many of our friends (we are in the 50 and older crowd now) and encourage everyone to speak out about this win-win situation.
Bike lanes would create a safe and healthy alternative to driving. They also would reduce pollution, reduce gasoline costs in our tough economic times and increase our property values because it would be a huge selling point for our community. I guarantee the bike lanes would be put to use the very first day they were unveiled. Our government needs to be proactive in creating alternatives to help the people.
