Abusing a spouse is never funny

On the Jan. 22 comics page, the comic strip Mark Trail depicts a husband angry with his wife for letting her pet deer in the house. The man issues his wife a warning. In the third panel he smacks her across the face.

In my opinion, the comics page should be funny and entertaining. Spousal abuse is neither!

I believe this has no place in a family newspaper.
