Commuters spooked by firecracker in CTA tunnel
Authorities say someone set off a firecracker in a tunnel that connects two Chicago Transit Authority underground train lines, sending spooked commuters scrambling for the exits.
The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
Chicago Transit Authority spokeswoman Sheila Gregory says police found a firecracker in the tunnel that connects the Blue Line with the Red Line at the downtown Jackson Street station.
She says there were no injuries or service interruptions.
