Graphic Packaging cutting 60 workers form Elk Grove facility
MARIETTA, Ga. -- Graphic Packaging has announced plans to close four plants around the country by the end of September that will eliminate 650 jobs in an effort to save $90 million by next year.
Plants scheduled to be closed are carton plants in Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Morris; and Muncie, Ind.; and a multiwall-bag packaging factory in Cantonment, Fla.
The company also plans to lay off 60 people at a plant in Elk Grove. No cuts are planned for the company's Marietta, Ga., headquarters.
Graphic Packaging — which lost $14.4 million in the third quarter and has $3.25 billion in debt — already closed four plants last year to cut costs. It announced the closing of a folding carton plant in Smyrna, Tenn., earlier this year.
