RTA procedures waste time, money

We have received letters from the RTA requiring us to get Free Fare Permits. Why is it necessary to replace the reduced fare card with a senior ride free permit before the reduced fare card expires. This is requiring the expense of at least three mailings, employee-paid time and user time. This seems to be a waste of time and money. Of course, the RTA answers to nobody and doesn't need to worry about costs.

I received the following quick reply from a county board member when asked about the RTA. I guess we can expect Blagojevich to be blamed for everything for a few months.

"This was the requirement imposed by Gov Blagojevich. I'm sure if you complained to the RTA you would not get a common sense answer - they are just doing what the state legislature approved. It's a shame that this is imposed irrespective of one's need."
