Man accused in murder scheme
A Chicago man has been charged with solicitation of murder in connection with scheme to have a firefighter killed.
Miroslaw Zukowski is accused of agreeing to pay $5,000 to have the Chicago firefighter killed because he suspected him of having an affair with his wife.
Cook County Sheriff's office spokeswoman Penny Mateck says the 48-year-old Zukowski was arrested Friday after meeting an undercover sheriff's officer who was posing as a hit man. Zukowski was apprehended as he tried to hand the officer $500 as a down payment for the murder.
Cook County state's attorney spokesman Andy Conklin said Zukowski approached a person several times about hiring a hit man to kill the firefighter.
