Geneva's Whitley close to 2,000 mark

Of all the 62 points Geneva scored in its Senior Night win over DeKalb Friday, it was the basket by senior Alison Clemmons in the final minute that seemed to make teammates, coaches and fans the most happy.

"It was awesome," Geneva coach Gina Nolan said. "Alison is just a pleasant person to be around. To see her go out and score and see the big smile on her face is great. She was a little nervous before the game starting. It's a long time, four years to put in time, the last two on varsity, to know that role player and to do it with a smile on her face is a tribute to her and what a great kid she is."

The Vikings look to close a 27-0 regular season on Friday at 19-3 Batavia. With 12 points, Geneva senior Taylor Whitley will reach the 2,000-point mark in her career.
