Dog killed in Buffalo Grove fire; $200,000 damage to home

A Buffalo Grove woman has been forced out of her home by a Sunday afternoon fire.

Firefighters responded to the single-family residence on the 3000 block of Sandalwood Road about 2:20 p.m. and had the blaze under control within 15 minutes, Buffalo Grove Fire Battalion Chief Doug Postma said.

No one was home at the time, but a dog died in the fire.

Postma estimated the fire caused about $200,000 in damage. He said a preliminary cause was still unknown, adding that investigators remained on the scene Sunday night.

Crews from Arlington Heights, Long Grove, Lincolnshire, Countryside, Palatine Rural, Rolling Meadows and Lake Bluff fire departments assisted.
