Country Club Hills sees 5 murders in 2 weeks
Country Club Hills Mayor Dwight Welch is trying to calm residents fears after the southern Chicago suburb reported five homicides reported in the last 11 days.
On Sunday, police nabbed a 14-year-old suspect in the most recent murder -- the stabbing death of his stepfather, allegedly after a quarrel about homework.
Also Sunday, a man surrendered for questioning in another slaying last week.
Welch said only one case remains open from the bizarre chain of killings -- the first. An elderly couple were found shot in their home Jan. 29. Welch is vowing that the double murder will be solved.
Welch is stressing that the cases are unrelated and that two were domestic in nature.
