DeKalb County woman convicted in theft ring
SYCAMORE -- A DeKalb County jury has convicted a 68-year-old woman of four felonies in connection with a multistate theft ring which police and prosecutors say was orchestrated by her son.
Jurors deliberated for less than four hours before returning their verdict against Sandra Seabright of Leland on Friday evening.
Prosecutors maintained that Seabright knew that her 48-year-old son, Mark, was stealing items including vehicles and power tools and selling them, often through the online auction Web site eBay.
But Seabright, who took the stand in her own defense earlier Friday, said she was not aware of what her son was doing until after his arrest a year ago.
