Prayer service for Middle East peace
On Sunday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m., a Prayer Service for Peace in the Middle East will be held at Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 East Main Street in Barrington. This service is held on the 15th of each month as part of an ecumenical effort in the U.S. and the world to pray daily until a just and lasting peace comes to all citizens of the Middle East.
The service will include readings from the Bible, music, and prayers. For more information, call (847)-381-0243 or elca.org/Our-Faith-In-Action/Justice/Peace-Not-Walls.aspx.
Following the service, Bishop Wayne Miller of the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will speak about experiences gained through travel in the Middle East during the recent Israeli/Palestinian conflict in Gaza. This offers a unique opportunity to hear through his first-hand account the voices of people who shared their views and concerns about the present and future impact of that time on their lives.
