Celebrity gossip in the health department

Approving the "accounts payable" item is a regular part of every Arlington Heights village board meeting. On Monday, the accounts totaled $1.4 million and funded a wide list of village expenses from employee tuition reimbursement to vehicle repairs and parts.

One of the items will also let you know where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes went on their latest vacation.

The board approved a $50 health department expenditure to subscribe to People magazine.

Village Manager Bill Dixon said the magazine is for the village's health clinic, where people wait for things like immunization shots or blood pressure checks.

"Many magazine are brought in by employees but no one subscribes to People," Dixon said.
