Mutli-vehicle mishap on Tri-State near Gurnee

Police and rescue crews responded this morning to a multi-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of the Tri-State Tollway between Grand Avenue and Buckley Road mile marker 66.1 near Gurnee.

Illinois State Police officials said eight cars and one construction truck were involved in the crash that took place at 6:13 a.m.

The truck slammed on the brakes, officials said, which caused a chain reaction crash in the area. However, officials did not have specific information available to them.

Police officials said one person was transported to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with minor, nonlife threatening injuries.

Two southbound lanes were closed while the accident was tended to. Those lanes reopened at about 7:30 a.m. officials said.
