Why didn't others step forward?
There are many people, businesses, and organizations that were directly affected by the greed and dirty dealings of Rod Blagojevich, as well as each citizen of Illinois.
Some paid to play. Some did not get to play because they refused to pay or would not pay enough.
I suspect that it would almost be impossible for the vast majority of the 59 Illinois Senators and 116 members of the Illinois House of Representatives not to have strongly suspected, if not actually known, of many of his egregious dealings. Yet no one came forward and did anything about it.
If I am correct, it is a great sadness that they chose to ignore what they had reason to suspect.
The good news in all of this is that Edward Hospital CEO Pam Davis saw wrongdoing and even put herself at risk to correct the situation.
That took honesty, courage and integrity. I am so glad that there are still some who value these ideals and strive to live by them.
