2 NIU basketball players reinstated
Two Northern Illinois University basketball players have been reinstated, less than a week after they were suspended indefinitely for unspecified violations of team rules.
NIU said Tuesday the suspensions for guards Darion Anderson and Jeremy Landers have been lifted, effective immediately. Both are slated to make this week's road trip to Ohio and Buffalo.
The suspensions were announced Saturday, and both players missed that day's game against Bowling Green.
Head coach Ricardo Patton says the issue is now over and both players "understand and respect this program's expectations and standards."
Anderson has led NIU in both scoring and rebounding six times this season. The Chicago native was the 2008 Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year.
