Blago still making the talk-show circuit
Rod Blagojevich may no longer be governor of Illinois, but he is still a media draw.
Blagojevich launches a post-ousting media blitz today, his publicity agent says, traveling to New York to appear on shows from daybreak to late night.
This will follow his failed attempt last week to convince lawmakers of his innocence via more than a dozen TV shows in which he compared himself to Nelson Mandella, said the FBI wiretaps may have picked up illegal thoughts, but not actions and allowed his iconic hair to be messed up by a host on "The View."
This time Blagojevich is expected to rail against lawmakers for ousting him, the first time in Illinois' storied history a governor was removed through impeachment, and continue to declare his innocence.
He is set to make a second appearance on CNN's "Larry King Live," NBC's "Today" show and Fox's "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren" along with a first appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman."
Blagojevich's agent said in a statement the former governor is also set to speak on radio programs and to newspapers.
After serving six years, Blagojevich was ousted Thursday as the state's chief executive by a unanimous vote of state senators. He still faces an ongoing federal investigation and charges that he tried to trade state business for personal gain, including an appointment to the U.S. Senate and a grant to a children's hospital.
Former Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn is now the governor of Illinois.
