Grafton to clean mold out of police station

GRAFTON -- The City Council in the Jersey County community of Grafton has agreed to spend thousands of dollars to eradicate mold contamination in the Grafton Police Department building.

The mold began growing before last spring's flooding on the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers.

Grafton Police Chief Rob Hedger says that for nearly a year he and officers have spent as little time as possible in the police building, preferring to work in City Hall when appropriate.

Hedger says his men tried to kill the mold with bleach, but it kept coming back.
