One hurt in gang-related Elgin shooting
A gang-related drive-by shooting in Elgin Friday has sent one victim to the hospital with life threatening injuries, police said.
The victim was shot while driving with a group of people a few minutes before 10 p.m. in the 600 block of Raymond Street, officers said.
Elgin Public Information Officer Jeff Swoboda said the shots were fired from another car driving in the same direction down the east side street.
The victim was transported to Sherman Hospital.
Police say the incident is gang related, but have not yet made any arrests. They declined to release additional information.
Police said they are attempting to locate and interview witnesses Anyone who may have seen the incident is asked to call detectives at (847) 289-2695.
