Aurora man charged with robbery
An 18-year-old Aurora man narrowly missed a bullet but received a laundry list of charges Thursday for an attempted robbery, police said Saturday.
Ivan A. Cruz of the 600 block of Pierce Street was charged with armed violence, residential burglary and aggravated assault for allegedly robbing a home around 10 a.m. Thursday in the 500 block of Mountain Street.
Police said in a news release that officers responded to a 911 call from Mountain Street neighbors that a suspected burglary was in progress.
Police said that when officers arrived they saw a white Pontiac station wagon parked in front of the home with a 19-year-old woman sitting inside.
Inside the home, police were confronted by Cruz when he emerged from a bedroom, holding a handgun, police said. The sergeant fired once at Cruz but missed, the bullet striking a wall behind him.
