Lydia Bauer's 29 points lift Lake Zurich past Fenwick
Call it a sweet Sweet Sixteen victory.
Lydia Bauer scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, as Lake Zurich's girls basketball team wrapped up the Sweet Sixteen tournament on its home court by beating Fenwick 63-56.
Lake Zurich (22-5), which finished 5-0 in the tournament, also received 22 points from Olivia Allen. Bauer burned Fenwick (21-5) for 17 points in the first quarter, as she sank four 3-pointers.
Fenwick received 20 points from Katlyn Payne.
Audrey Bauer chipped in 10 points for Lake Zurich.
Lake Zurich 61, Schaumburg 34: In the first game of the day at Lake Zurich, Audrey Bauer scored 20 points for the host Bears.
Sarah Stauner added 13 for Lake Zurich (21-5).
Hinsdale Central 49, Johnsburg 34: At Lake Zurich, Toni Kokenis had 19 points for Hinsdale Central. Johnsburg received 9 points from Melissa Dixon.
Maine West 51, Sandburg 50: Megan O'Neill's basket with three seconds left was the difference.
Sam Acosta had 18 points for Maine West, while O'Neill finished with 16.
Carmel 52, Bishop McNamara 46 (2 OT): The Corsairs outscored the host school 6-0 in the second overtime to pull out the East Suburban Catholic Conference game in Kankakee.
Carmel (14-9, 3-4) was led in scoring by Lauren Lehocky with 15 points. Tiffany Hendrickson added 12.
Belvidere North 41, Antioch 36: The Sequoits lost the nonconference home game despite Katrina Holm's 6 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals.
Antioch (9-12), which was outscored 31-13 in the second half, also received 6 points and 7 rebounds from Martha Arntson. Lindsey Gofron added 7 points.
