D-C coach Zinke to be honored

The Fox Valley Conference and Dundee-Crown High School will honor longtime wrestling coach and athletic administrator Al Zinke Saturday during the conference wrestling meet, which will be hosted by Dundee-Crown.

Zinke, who will retire after this school year, is an inductee to both the Illinois Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame and the Dundee-Crown Athletic Hall of Fame. In his tenure at Crown and Dundee-Crown, Zinke's teams have won 15 conference titles and placed in the Final Four at the IHSA state finals twice. He has won 522 dual meet matches.

Zinke has also coach track and football, been the school's athletic director and physical education department chair.

Saturday's ceremony for Zinke will take place at approximately 3 p.m., prior to the championship matches.
