Inverness bicyclist hit by car on Palatine Road
A 58-year-old Palatine bicyclist was seriously injured Thursday morning after he was struck by a van on Palatine Road in Inverness.
The man was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was in serious condition, Palatine Rural Fire Protection District officials said.
Both the bicyclist and the van driver, a 70-year-old Inverness resident, were heading east toward Roselle Road when the crash occurred around 6:50 a.m., Barrington-Inverness Deputy Police Chief Jerry Libit said. The speed limit on that two-lane stretch of Palatine Road is 40 mph.
As of late Thursday, no citations had been issued in the crash.
Traffic continued to move through the scene as the Barrington Major Crash Investigation Team worked. Both lanes reopened by 1:30 p.m., Libit said.
No further details were released.
