For those who don't know how to love him
Rod Blagojevich has compared himself to Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela, but now the Second City comedy troupe is giving him the role he really seems to desire: Jesus Christ Himself.
Second City Theatricals is putting together "Rod Blagojevich Superstar!," a parody of the '70s rock musical "Jesus Christ Superstar," with the key roles altered so that Blagojevich is Jesus, his wife Patti is Mary Magdalene and Roland Burris heads a group of apostles including Patrick Fitzgerald, Dick Mell and Lisa Madigan.
The lampoon was written by Ed Furman and T.J. Shanoff and will be performed Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. at the Second City etc., 1608 N. Wells St., Chicago, starting with previews next week.
Tickets are $14, and reservations can be made at secondcity.com or by calling (312) 337-3992.
Sure, it's easy to imagine Patti Blagojevich lilting, "Everything's Alright," but can anyone see Pat Quinn singing "King Herod's Song?"
