Ex-NU student indicted in drinking death

A Cook County grand jury has indicted a former Northwestern University student in connection with the death of a freshman student.

According to the Cook County state's attorney's office, 22-year-old Alexander James Krzyston of Evanston was indicted on a single-count of unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor.

Nineteen-year-old Matthew Sunshine of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y. was found dead on June 10, 2008. An autopsy showed he died of excessive alcohol intoxication.

An investigation revealed that a group of Northwestern students took part in an alcohol drinking game, with the alcohol provided by Krzyston.

Sunshine participated in the game and was later found unresponsive in his dorm room.

Krzyston is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 11.
